Possible Association of Polymorphisms in Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 46 Gene With Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

Introduction: Dynamic proteolysis, through the ubiquitin-proteasome system, has an important role in DNA transcription and cell cycle, is considered to modulate stress response synaptic plasticity. We investigated whether genetic variants ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase 46 ( USP46 ) would be associated with post-traumatic disorder (PTSD) people exposure combat trauma using a case-control candidate gene association design. Methods: Korean male veterans exposed Vietnam War were grouped into those n = 128) without PTSD. Seven tagging SNPs of selected, single-marker haplotype-based analyses performed. All adjusted for sociodemographic factors levels severity alcohol problem. Results: One (rs2244291) showed nominal evidence PTSD status “re-experiencing” cluster, although was not significant after Bonferroni correction. No other or haplotypes detected.
